Welcome to Bent

Today we’re excited announce Bent, a new platform designed to help diverse queer communities come together and thrive.

From athletics to nightlife and book clubs to activism, communities on Bent are led by Hosts who set the tone and structure for their groups. Communities are made up of chats, where you can dive into any conversation to hang out, make plans and catch up on important updates. Member lists help you find new and nearby queer people in your shared communities to easily start private messages and take your friendships offline into the real world — and profiles let you showcase your personality with additional photos, colorful backgrounds and custom moods that help people know how you're feeling wherever they find you in the app.

At Bent, we take safety seriously. We’ve built Bent with rules and policies that center diverse and intersectional queer identities and support our unique needs. While Hosts are responsible for keeping their community running, we take on the responsibility of the heavy stuff with an easy-to-use reporting system that includes ways to send support resources when you're worried about someone.

We know that building and running a community takes a lot of work — especially to do it well. That’s why we invest in tools and resources that help our Hosts easily facilitate introductions, spark conversations and keep their communities safe. This includes custom guidelines and sign-up questions that help Hosts set expectations for members and get to know them from the moment they join. Additionally, private chats enable Hosts to coordinate and split up work — and detailed safety reports give hosts the context they need to make informed moderation decisions quickly and confidently.

Currently, you need an invite code from a community to join Bent. To begin, we’re working with passionate leaders who are hosting their communities on our app. If you’re a queer community leader, you can apply to host your community on Bent here.

Bent is available for download today on iOS in the App Store. To learn more about Bent, explore our help center at getbent.app/help.
